Beat Winter Dryness

I live in Canada and we always get extreme hot and cold temperatures. As some of you may know this year has been a horribly cold long lasting winter. We haven't had this much snow in quite a few years and it's lasted for weeks. Temperatures have gone down to almost -40 degrees Celsius where my car wouldn't even start lol. I hate the cold and so does my skin. This is the first time ever in my life that I have gotten eczema on my arms and I've been suffering from dermatitis which gives me dry and itchy skin all the time. I felt like sharing with you some of my winter skincare and makeup secrets to make it through the cold.

Shower With:
Aloe with Vitamin E & Hemp Oil Soap

I hate using ordinary bar soap because it leaves my skin feeling dry after a shower. I've been using Aloe with Vitamin E Soap for about 2-3 years now and I love it. It's extremely moisturizing and it's actually good for your skin since it doesn't contain any harsh unnatural chemicals. It lathers well and leaves your skin feeling soft. I also use it for shaving as well. In the winter I use my Aloe Soap but on really dry days I use Hemp Oil Soap. Hemp Oil is amazing for your body and it contains many healing properties. Hemp Oil locks in moisture and is known to help control skin flare ups caused from eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, etc.

After Shower Moisturizer

Eucerin Cream is a very nice moisturizing cream for after a shower. They have many different kinds of creams to suit your needs. I prefer their Calming Cream. It leaves your skin silky smooth and it soaks in very fast. On very cold days when my skin is extra dry I prefer to moisturize with something a bit more intense.

Coconut Oil is my holy grail skincare product. It can be used for your skin and hair and you can even cook with it. I have bad scars on my legs so I apply it twice a day on my body and my scars have dramatically faded in only a couple months. I tend to not use it in my hair because my hair is naturally very oily.

When your hair is damp put some Moroccan Oil on the tips of your hair. Watch out and use very little because it can be oily but it's great for restoring moisture and shine to your hair.

I've been using shea butter for years. It's super moisturizing and it's great to relieve dry and itchy skin. It can be greasy so use a small amount. I also love using this on my bikini area after I shave.

For your face

These are my go to face products. I am in love with the Simple Skincare line, it's very gentle on sensitive skin. I have such sensitive skin that this is one of the only cleansers I'm able to use. Their gel cleanser is amazing, it gets rid of dirt and leftover makeup and it doesn't dry out your skin or make your face feel tight. I have oily skin so I prefer their Hydrating Light Moisturizer. It soaks in instantly and doesn't leave you looking greasy. For people with dry skin check out their heavy moisturizer. At night I love their Vital Vitamin Restoring Night Cream. It's a very thick and heavy cream so apply very little on your face and pat under your eyes. It can get greasy so watch out but it feels amazing on the skin and your face feels nice and smooth in the morning. For lips, nothing else compares to Vaseline Lip Therapy in Cocoa Butter. It moisturizes literally for hours. I can go to sleep with it on and I can still feel my lips being moisturized at lunch time. This is my holy grail lip balm and the best part is that it's insanely cheap!

Makeup Must Haves

L'oreal True Match Foundation and Powder - $13 (foundation) $10 (powder)
I love this foundation, it's lightweight with a light-medium coverage. Glides on smoothly and has a nice satin finish. If you have oily skin set with powder and use a primer.

Marcelle Sheer Tint Fluid Moisturizer - $15.95
If you don't need too much coverage and just want to add moisture to your face while hiding redness then check out this tinted moisturizer. Very lightweight and non greasy and it contains a sunscreen.

Benefit's Watts Up Highlighter - $36
Add some extra glow to your skin with this highlighter. It's colour flatters practically any skin tone. It's a very natural looking highlighter.

Clinique Butter Shine Lipstick - $19
It's super moisturizing and lasts a long time and never makes your lips feel dry or flaky.

Valentine's Day Look

I apologize for the bad picture quality, I was using my phone so the colours didn't turn out as vibrant

For Valentine's Day me and my boyfriend went to a fancy dinner/dance. I couldn't get a better picture of my dress but you can kind of see it in the picture.

Step 3: Use a light grey colour (Smashbox "Mist") over the entire eye
Step 4: Use a darker grey colour (Smashbox "Anchor") in the outer corner of the lid and blend inward
Step 5: Use a greyish-purple colour (Smashbox "Haze") on the outer corner of the eye and blend into the crease
Step 6: Use a black eyeshadow lightly on the outer corner of the eye to create a smokey effect
Step 7: Add some glittery eyeshadow (Urban Decay "Provocateur") and use your finger to dab the glitter over the eye
Step 8: Add a highlight (Urban Decay "Anonymous")
Step 9: Create nice winged liner with Stila Stay Alll Day Waterproof Eyeliner
Step 10: Add 2 coats of Maybelline The Rocket Mascara

Face:

Step 1: Moisturize with Simple Skincare Hydrating Light Moisturizer
Step 2: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer
Step 3: Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser in "Neutralizer"

Maybelline Color Tattoo Collection

Just like I promised here is my Maybelline Color Tattoo Collection

In order from top left going clockwise:
- Bad To The Bronze
- Too Cool
- Tough As Taupe
- Barely Branded
- Painted Purple

I absolutely love this colour, it's probably one of my favourites. It goes on super smooth and it very pigmented. I always get compliments on this colour when I wear it out. It's a nice bronze colour with a shiny finish.

This is my newest addition to the Color Tattoo family and I absolutely love it! It's insanely creamy and glides on so smoothly. This is probably the colour with the smoothest consistency out of all the tattoo shadows that I have. It's a gorgeous frosty white/silver colour which works great for a base or highlight.

I think this is my favourite colour of my collection. In the pot it looks quite brown but when you put it on it's a nice muddy brownish-grey colour with a matte finish. This colour works beautifully as a base for a smokey eye and I also tend to use it a lot in my crease.

Sorry for the bad picture quality, it wasn't taken in natural light. It look a lot more gold in this picture than it actually is. It's actually a beautiful shiny champagne colour which works great as a highlighter. My only complaint with this one is that it kind of gets a slightly chunky consistency but keep in mind I've had it for quite a long time and when I first got it, it was very creamy.

Painted Purple is my least favourite colour from the collection. Again I apologise for the bad picture quality. The picture on the left was taken in artificial light, while the swatch on the right was taken in natural sunlight. The colour looks beautiful in the container but when you put it on it has an extremely thin and patchy consistency. It's veryyy hard to make this colour look opaque on the skin. The swatch I took was with about 4 layers of the product and you can see it's still slightly see through. This colour is a miss for me.

Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow and Marcelle Lux Eye Dust

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in "Too Cool"
Marcelle Lux Eye Dust in "Element"

Review: Marcelle Lux Eye Dust
Price: $11.95

This is my first loose eyeshadow that I've ever purchased and I must say I love it! The colour is beautiful, it's like a brownish grey taupe with some sparkle. It goes on smoothly but it can be messy since it's a loose eyeshadow. It has great pigmentation, what you see in the bottle is what you get! It can be applied both wet and dry. The packaging is really cute but it's hard to open.

Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in "Too Cool"
Price: $7

As some of you may already know I'm a huge fan of the Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadows. I currently have 5 which I will post a picture of later. "Too Cool" is amazing quality. It's extremely creamy and well pigmented with a pearl finish. It glides on smoothly and doesn't go on patchy. I highly suggest this as an eyeshadow base or highlight colour.

DIY Lip Scrub

What you need:
- Natural Liquid Honey
- Sugar
-Small Bowl
- Spoon
- Toothbrush

In a small bowl, mix 1/2 teaspoon of honey and a 1/2 teaspoon of sugar. It will begin to create a gritty paste. Take an old toothbrush and dip it in the paste and scrub your lips to remove the dead skin. If you don't have an old toothbrush you can use the tip of your fingernail to scrub away at your lips. This will leave your lips smooth and will make a perfect canvas to apply your favourite lipstick. The best part is, it's simple and non toxic so you can eat it when you're done ;)

2 New Lippies!

I got these 2 gorgeous Revlon lipsticks on sale yesterday for $2 each!

Left: Sky Pink         Right: Twinkled Pink

Sky Pink is a gorgeous matte colour while
Twinkled Pink is a softer pink with a pearl finish

Review: Marcelle Sheer Tint Fluid Moisturizer

Price: $15.95

I'm really liking this product! I usually use foundation with a light/medium coverage but since my skin has been very good to me lately I picked up this tinted moisturizer for a sheer coverage. I was skeptical at first because most tinted moisturizers I've tried leave my oily skin shiny and greasy but I was pleasantly surprised when this one didn't do that at all! It has a very smooth and creamy texture that's kind of thick but easy to blend. It slightly covers redness and evens out my skin tone. Since it's a tinted moisturizer it's only supposed to have a sheer coverage. It leaves you with a satin/dewy finish which is very nice and natural looking. Even after wearing it outside for a few hours I wasn't super shiny. I prefer to set this with powder. If you have oily/combination/dry or sensitive skin I highly recommend this product!
